Profile
Ta Prohm is a famous temple in the Angkor archaeological complex in Cambodia, known for its stunning, atmospheric ruins. Built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII, it was originally dedicated to the Buddha. The temple is unique for its dramatic appearance, as large trees and vines grow out of the stone structures, creating a mesmerizing blend of nature and architecture. Unlike many other temples in Angkor, Ta Prohm has been left largely in its “discovered” state, with the trees and roots adding to its mystical charm. The temple gained worldwide fame through its appearance in the film Tomb Raider.
