Profile
Prasat Preah Khan is a large and impressive temple complex located in the Angkor region of Cambodia, built in the late 12th century by King Jayavarman VII. It was dedicated to the king’s father and was originally both a religious and a functional city, housing monks, scholars, and administrators. The temple’s layout follows the classic Angkorian style, featuring a large central sanctuary surrounded by intricate carvings, courtyards, and galleries. Preah Khan is unique for its blend of Buddhist and Hindu influences, as well as for its partially restored state, with parts of the temple overrun by jungle and tree roots, adding to its mystical allure. The site remains one of the more tranquil and less crowded temples in the Angkor complex, offering a serene exploration experience.
