Profile
Prasat Beng Mealea is a hidden gem in Cambodia, located about 40 kilometers east of Angkor Wat. Built in the early 12th century during the reign of King Suryavarman II, this temple is similar in style to Angkor Wat but much less restored, giving it a more raw and untouched feel. The temple is largely overgrown with jungle, with vines and trees intertwining with the stone ruins, creating an enchanting and mystical atmosphere. It was likely a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, but over time, it became abandoned. Today, Prasat Beng Mealea is a popular destination for those seeking a quieter, more adventurous exploration of Cambodia’s ancient heritage.
