Profile
Angkor Wat is a massive temple complex located in Cambodia, originally built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II. It is the largest religious monument in the world, dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. The temple is renowned for its grand architecture, intricate bas-reliefs, and expansive central tower, which symbolizes Mount Meru, the center of the universe in Hindu and Buddhist cosmology. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple, it gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple and remains an important pilgrimage site. Angkor Wat is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is widely recognized as one of the most iconic symbols of Cambodia.
